Practice the Craft of Disciple-making in the Word

The last step of each module is to make explanatory notes so you can serve your disciple-in-the-making in this process. "Teaching you to Teach True^North" is the best outcome I could hope for.

Obviously, to teach a lesson or a skill like Observation and all of its nuances requires someone to know the material. In reality, the only way to become proficient at Observation is to practice...practice...practice. Additionally, to disciple...disciple...disciple. The real test is "Are you becoming a Disciple-maker?" not "Can you take an objective test on basic Observational Skills and get at least a 75%?

It might be quite interesting for people to take turns in the Small group and try (using your own words) to explain the process of Observation from start to finish.

  1. Do a First reading of Ephesians...describing what you have seen in the text and what the text has done to you
  2. Do a Second Reading of Ephesians, naming chapters, detailing remarks about the author, audience and the culture of the first century.
  3. Can you identify 3-4 Book level structures which point to strategic passages, and have an associated text driven question.
  4. Can you then perform paragraph level observation and turn observations into questions?
  5. Can you see how your paragraph level work points you to one or two sentences? You finalize your observations on the sentence level.
